PM Gati Shakti Master plan: Explained
PM Modi has launched the Rs 100 Lakh Crore Gati Shakti Project to develop a Holistic-Infrastructure for Multi-Modal Connectivity.
On the occasion of the 75th Independence day, Prime minister Narendra Modi announced that the Central government is planning to launch the PM Gati Shakti Master plan and now a few days ago, he has launched a National master plan for Multi-Modal connectivity. To understand the need and importance of this brand new project, first, we need to know the problems in our current system of infrastructure development and what benefits this project will bring.
PROBLEMS OF INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA
1. Infrastructure development in India had suffered for decades, still, after 75 years of Independence, we do not have world-class infrastructure in our country. The main reason behind this is the Lack of Coordination among different ministries and government departments.
For example, the road construction department is responsible for constructing roads and then the gas pipe and water pipeline agencies come and dig up the road which spoils the work of the previous department. What are the consequences?
- The hard-earned money of taxpayers goes in vain
- The effort and time invested in constructing roads gets wasted
2. Another example of Infrastructure development is the Delay in projects- you all might have witnessed, some projects were started in your childhood and take forever to finish.
There are a number of issues due to which wastage of resources takes place which could have been invested in some other beneficial source and the biggest sufferer of this situation is the "Common population". To address all these shortcomings, the PM Gati Shakti Master plan has been launched.
WHAT IS PM GATI SHAKTI MASTER PLAN?
Gati shakti word itself means the power of speed and it is a digital platform that promises “integrated planning and coordinated execution”
The platform includes 16 ministries ranging from Railway to Road ministry and both Central and state govt ministries. It will provide high-resolution satellite images of utilities, infrastructure, administrative boundaries, land and logistics. In simple words, it is an effort to merge all ministries together so that they can have an update of each other's work and can coordinate in a better way for infrastructure projects.
To summarize, it will incorporate the infrastructure schemes which are already ongoing and all the ministries to prepare a framework so that India can become a spectator of world-class competitive infrastructure by the end of 2024-2025 which will raise the standard of Indian businesses.
In the end, everything depends on proper implementation. If the plan is brought into action thoroughly, it can boost the opportunities for the business world in India.
