Free Hindu Temples in India From Government control
"SARV PANT SAM BHAV"
India has always been a secular country and we don't need an amendment of any kind to prove this because India's roots have always carried the essence of treating every religion equally. India is a secular country, so, it has to follow the basic fundamental rules of secularism. Firstly, the government or any administration should not interfere with the working and practices of a religious institution until it's against the constitution and Secondly, every religion should be treated equally.
"Considering the present situation of the country, this blog is a repost." If you have not read it before, do give it a read.
So what does our today's topic say?
In the Indian States like Tamilnadu, Kerala, Odisha, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and some more, thousands of Hindu temples are under government or state control but this is not the same for other religious institutions like churches, Mosques, etc. The funds received as a charity in Hindu temples are controlled and monitored by the government. In Tamilnadu, for every 100 rupees that an individual donates to a state-controlled temple, 18 rupees goes directly to the government fund.

Next time, should we think twice before donating our money?
Who gives the right to the authority to take a portion of money from my donations into their authoritative funds and if it is constitutional then why it is limited to only Hindu temples? Isn't it against the fundamental rule of secularism? Why is the amount received in churches, mosques, and various other religious institutions not taxable?
To understand this we have to dive a little into the history...
1. The tale of the government's takeover of the Hindu temples of India began in 1925 when the British government passed legislation that allowed them to interfere in the running of Madras presidency which is today's Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and a large portion of Kerala.
Why 1925, what is so special about this year? This was the rise of the self-respect movement which was actively supported by the missionaries gathered momentum due to which Aryan invasion theory got resistance and not only Britishers, the supporters of the so-called Dravidian movement used this wishful theory to insult and defame all institution associated with brahmins, because they imagined brahmins being the descendants of Aryan invaders.
(I will be explaining the Aryan Invasion theory and Self-respect movement in some other blog).
2. Now withstanding the complete unscientific basis of the politics of Britishers, the ideology of hatred against brahmins was at its full swing during that era and in their endeavour to deprive the brahmins of their power, britishers destroyed the livelihood of several other groups apart from brahmins.
A temple is not just limited to its physical premises but it has its own ecosystem. Apart from the place where prayers are offered, a temple's ecosystem consists of flower sellers, sculptors, Akhada, performing artists, and so on. Because of this pathetic western ideology and so-called social justice warriors, thousands of people of the Hindu community suffered a lot and in the year 1927 due to the introduction of a legislation, known as the Madras Hindu religious endowments act of 1927.
No, the real damage was yet to begin and ironically this happened not under the rule of Britishers but when India became an independent country.
In 1951, the Shirur Mutt temple in Udipi and the other two major temples were notified of a takeover by the state under the Madras Hindu Religious endowments act of 1927 which later became the Madras Hindu religious and charitable endowment Act of 1951.
3. This led to a legal battle in the Madras High court and eventually in the Supreme Court of India. The court stated some major provisions of the act as unconstitutional and illegal. But in the year 1959, new legislation was brought in by the state government which consisted of all the provisions which were stated unconstitutional and illegal by the supreme court five years back.
This law is in force even today and it remained unchallenged until the Late Pujya Swami Dayanand Saraswati stepped in the year 2012, to challenge the Hindu religious and charitable endowment Act of 1951 in Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry.
What is important is that except for Late Pujya Swami Dayanand Saraswati and some more people like him, no one from the Hindu society considered this issue fit to challenge in the court.
Then, where are we lagging?
The truth is we don't even care, our fundamental right is exploited openly and we agree to keep our eyes closed. We live in a society where negligence and ignorance are dominating us. Fake news, false propaganda, sold-out media houses, and negative trends of social media will lead us nowhere.
A very strong reminder!- Very powerful forces are working hard to destroy the integrity of our nation and their weapons are "the internet and social media." Please try to put your thinking caps on.
