What is Pegasus? 


Pegasus is developed by an Israel-based company NSO, its spyware, perhaps claimed to be the most powerful spyware ever created. The basic operation of this spyware is to get inside a smartphone (Android/ iOS) and turn them into a surveillance device.  But the company markets this software as a weapon to track criminals and terrorists and is not for mass surveillance.

How does it work? 


As per the 2019 updated version of this spyware, NSO's Pegasus can infiltrate a device with a missed call on your phone or with a Whatsapp call,  and it could even delete the record of the missed call making it impossible for the users to track it. How dangerous and lethal. Right?  Earlier spyware was used to send a link or a Phishy email or they used to call and until you pick the call or open the link the process could not get started but this software is way ahead and is very advanced


What it does?


Once installed on your smartphone, NSO group's Pegasus can read and steal any information on it.  It can even turn on your camera and microphone with your permission and can secretly film your track with your GPS. 


Who can use it? 


As per NSO, their software is used to empower government agencies of different countries to fight against terrorism and help them to investigate and save thousands of lives.


Cost of Using Pegasus? 


As per the reports of 2016, NSO charges a Flat $500,000 (Around 3.7 Crore) fee for installing the software.  It charges Around ( Rs 4.8 Crore) from the Government agencies. To understand the Pricing in detail, you can click here to understand it.
